The Genius and the Water Fountain

Folks are dumb where I come from,
They ain’t had any learning.
Still they’re happy as can be
Doin’ what comes naturally

Today I stood in the hallway of the engineering department at a local university, and I spied a poster that a student had created, the content of which reminded me that I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, not an Engineering degree.

However, only 15 feet away from this glaring reminder that psi don’t know my sigma from a rho in the ground…that I’m upsilon a creek without an iota of a paddle, this sign was posted over the drinking fountain.

Apparently it is possible to respect the labeled data without knowing not to dispose of solid waste in the drinking fountain.  In a related story, I had trouble finding a restroom, so this tale could take a dreadful turn that I’d rather not contemplate.

As I recall, none of the drinking fountains in the arts department had warning signs posted above them.  I’m staring to feel better about that BFA.

Is this the difference between wisdom and knowledge?
